Why I Love Park Run
It was a grey, cold, drizzly Saturday morning as I lined up at the start of my local Park Run. This was my first run since Christmas and I wasn’t particularly looking forward to a 5K run after three weeks of mainly eating and drinking!
Although the run was slightly slower than normal, I felt fantastic afterwards and re-charged ready for the weekend. This is what I love about Park Run, there were 156 people running, jogging or walking the course and all of them had huge smiles on their faces as they crossed the finishing line. Even in the drizzle, the forest looked stunning shrouded in mist and the volunteers did a fantastic job organizing everything and giving encouragement.
In January many of us are setting out our goals for the year ahead myself included. Some of my goals are Big Hairy Audacious Goals which will involve much time and effort. Park Run for me is a reminder that being happier and healthier doesn’t have to cost anything and just involves a little bit of motivation!
